Theory of Mind

Hypnosis is a heightened state of awareness that allows for improved focus and concentration. It is a natural state where the subconscious mind is very receptive to thoughts and suggestions.

Using hypnosis you can modify your subconscious programming to benefit you by replacing old beliefs, habits, and behaviors that you no longer need or want with the new ones you desire. Everyone naturally enters the state of hypnosis several times every day - while watching a movie or TV, while scrolling on your phone, while reading an enthralling book, while overwhelmed by a new romance, or while driving (have you ever driven for a few miles without remembering how you got there?).

The Theory of Mind

When a baby is born it has a more primitive mind, it doesn’t have logic, reason, or the inhibitory process (the ability to control one's mental processes and responses, to ignore an internal or an external prompt, and to perform an alternative action). Included in the primitive mind are the fight/flight/freeze mechanisms. As the child grows, it develops the inhibitory processes. Babies are born with only two fears; the fear of falling and the fear of loud noise. Everything else is learned by association and identification.

From the age of zero to about eight years old the child develops a library of these associations and identifications from their parents/caregivers and environment. They learn that some of these are good (positive) and some of these are bad (negative). These positive and negative associations create our conditioning and triggers, and form what is referred to as our “life script." This life script is formed from what we know, or our known associations, it is our subconscious programming. The child does not know good from bad or right from wrong, they are only aware of the associations and identifications. Between the ages of eight to approximately twelve years old, logic and reason starts to develop. This enables the making of decisions and the development of will power, and becomes the conscious mind. The conscious mind represents 12% of our total mind power and the subconscious mind makes up the remaining 88%.

Hypnosis allows you to tap into your subconscious mind, which is the strongest part of the mind, about 88% of your total mind power. Bypassing the critical factor of the conscious mind and gaining access to the subconscious mind allows transformations in behavior patterns that you can’t make consciously. Most people find hypnosis to be very calm and relaxing. Although you're more open to suggestions during hypnosis you don't lose control over your behavior, and you remain awake and aware. Hypnosis can help you gain control over behaviors you'd like to change.
